“Oscar” officially known as Forestway Ascots Image. By Forestway Royal Ascot and River Valley Pick a Partner. The reason why we have a new Forest pony is due to the fact that when I was ten years old, living in England, I had my first pony who was a New Forest, bright bay, in fact orange in the winter. His name was Robin and I loved him dearly. So many years later sitting at home in Somerville, Victoria on a rainy day I was looking through the Weekly Times and saw an ad for a New Forest Pony well I managed to get everyone in the car on the pretence of going for a drive up to the hills just to look at a Pony, my husband was away at the time, lucky. Well it was love and we had our New Forest Pony.
And so, He is now eight years old we bought him from Denise Woods when he was four. My eldest daughter Alexandra was then nine and joined Merricks Pony Club with him and competed in one day events, which Oscar took to like a duck to water. They would go round the cross country course both taking care of each other and Oscar never putting a foot wrong and always got placed.
He loves to jump and clears everything by at least another foot. Alexandra unfortunately has taken a break from Riding so my Youngest who is now nine, Charlotte, has taken him over and hence our first try at showing. He is such a beautiful boy with the best temperament and I don’t think I will ever part from him, but at some point would like to get another, but I have to confess that I also have two retired thoroughbreds an old Shetland and a Warmblood mare.
