FORESTWAY ZIG ZAG

6yr old NF gelding

We bought 'Forestway Zig Zag' or 'Ziggy' as we call him is a 3yr old unbroken gelding from Jan McBain and had him broken to saddle. Ziggy was ridden for 2 years by myself and our daughter (who is now 11) and during this time we took him to pony club and competed at the Northern Zone Championships as a member of the winning dressage team on the flat as a 4 year old.
Ziggy was then broken to harness and we have recently (within the last 5 months) started competing at Combined Driving Events with him. He has had a brilliant start and out of only three events entered in he has won all three. At each event he won the dressage phase of his class and on one occasion got the best overall score of the whole competition!
At the recent Masters Games he won his class and also won 'Concourse de Elegance' for singles.
We did not expect a start like this as he is still quite green and inexperienced, but his paces are lovely and he is striking in harness.
Our next aim is to start driving Ziggy with his grandfather 'Pakake William Rufous' as a pair. We have only driven them as a pair on 2 occasions, so we have a very long way ahead of us before any competitions.
'Rufus' was the NF that qualified Henry to compete at the recent World Pony Carriage Driving Championships that were held in England in July - what a wonderful experience to represent your country and it was all possible because of our NF 'Pahake William Rufous'(who turned 18 on Remembrance Day 2005)
They are truly all rounders!
